Grenade Thrown at Tourists as Kenya Marks 50Yrs

Just when the country was Celebrating 50yrs from Colonial Rule, some British tourist had a rough day at Mombasa.
The Foreign Office said it was urgently looking into the reports that the British travellers had escaped the attack near Mombasa after the grenade failed to explode.
According to Sky News, Mombasa p olice chief Robert Kitur said: "The grenade was detonated safely by experts.
"We are investigating the incident and looking for the man who threw the grenade at the tourists and fled."
A spokeswoman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We're urgently looking into it at the moment."
According to a Kenyan newspaper, two tourists escaped the attack after the grenade was thrown at their vehicle near Likoni.
The driver is reported to have contacted police, who cordoned off the area before detonating the grenade.
Police told the Kenya-based Standard Digital that the Britons were travelling in a van when it was targeted as it slowed down.
The attack comes on the same day as Kenya celebrates 50 years of independence.
Celebrations began as nationals marked half a century of freedom from British colonialist rule.
