A Kenyan radio Station, Ghetto radio has announced that they
won’t be playing any R. Kelly s songs after what they termed as indecent
attitude towards women and the girl child.
Every year Ghetto Radio holds its annual
serious request with a theme that is community based. This year marked the year
of the ladies where we had to give it all to our lovely women.
Clutch magazine had done an article "Why Does Anyone Still Think It's OK to Listen to R.Kelly?"
a campaign against Kelly’s Songs earlier
this month, which together with other
stories detailing more evidence of child pornography and several rape cases
have since been widely ignored and thus has not affected his career.
Kelly has since been acquitted of all wrong doing even as the debate rages on
around his past as a neighborhood sex predator, but while the debate continues,
the 46-year-old isn't focused on the media fodder. When asked for a response to
the report, he sidestepped the controversy entirely. "Well,
I feel like I got the football, man," he told Big Tigger on Atlanta's V103 radio station. "I'm
running towards the touchdown and stopping and looking back. Mess around, I'll
get tackled."
And it seems the Radio station is not the only one picking a
beef with the award wining singer. A week after the #AskRKelly
trending topics didn't go as planned, Twitter is back to debating Mr. Kelly,
this time over a Village Voice story published on Monday (Dec. 16)
detailing the number of sexual allegations brought against the singer over the
years, and how he's eluded criminal punishment.
With that in mind Ghetto Radio banned all the songs by award
winning singer R.Kelly who has been accused of getting off with sexual assault
of underage teens.
Ghetto radio announced that effectively, his songs will be
off rotation till he clears his name.
